Since 1928, Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology has provided aviation training in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Spartan College has worked from its inception to provide current and creative training programs to equip our graduates for careers in the aviation sector. Spartan College has three campuses totaling over 247,000 square feet of training, classroom, and administrative space.

Commercial Pilot (Aviation Flight) (Associate of Applied Science)

This program is meant to prepare students for entry-level aviation careers, both technically and professionally. Ground school courses provide students with the academic knowledge needed to execute flight tasks and prepare for required FAA tests. Students in the Aviation Flight program are prepared for their various FAA flight examinations in line with the FAA Practical Test Standards. Our tablet-based curriculum allows our students to get through their training more quickly and with more opportunities to practice as they learn.

Technology for Aviation Maintenance (Diploma and Associate of Applied Science)

Aviation maintenance specialists keep aircrafts in safe flying condition by servicing, repairing, and overhauling aircraft and components in accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the aircraft manufacturer's strict standards. On a regular basis, every aircraft must undergo extensive inspections and repairs. These services are handled by FAA-certified technicians. Technicians in this profession work on aircraft components and systems such as the airframe, piston engines, turbine engines, hydraulic systems, propellers, rigging, warning systems, warning systems, environmental systems, and other components.

Technology of Aviation Electronics (Diploma and Associate of Applied Science)

As the world's airways become more congested, pilots must rely more than ever on the accuracy of aircraft navigation and communication systems to ensure safe flight. Advances in traditional aircraft electronics, the expansion of airline fleets, and the emergence of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) have resulted in a greater demand for qualified technicians with competence in the manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and installation of new and existing systems. Aviation electronics professionals are essential in the development and deployment of satellites, helicopters, and aircraft of all sizes.

Technology for Nondestructive Testing (Diploma)

What exactly is NDT? The inspection of an object or material without impacting its future utility is referred to as nondestructive testing technology. Nondestructive tests are used to uncover internal or exterior flaws, evaluate structure, composition, or qualities, or measure geometric attributes - all without compromising the test object's shape, fit, or function. In a world where public safety and high-quality products are critical, the demand for certified Nondestructive Testing Technicians is increasing. Spartan's curriculum prepares graduates to assess, research, and investigate quality control metrics in a variety of companies to ensure the quality of a product or labor produced.

Equipment and Facilities

Spartan College's major electronics department is housed on the Tulsa Main Campus. This is where aviation electronics students learn component-level troubleshooting abilities through a hands-on program that is 50 percent hands-on and involves the use of industry-relevant equipment and training aids. The Spartan College campus houses the general education classes required to finish an associate degree program, as well as bachelor level courses. Spartan College's Tulsa Main Campus also has aviation electronics labs, including a training lab for unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) building and programming instruction, a welding shop for aviation maintenance students, and ultrasonic and eddy current labs for the Nondestructive Testing Technology program, a student resource center (library), offices for student services, career services, admissions, financial aid, student records, student accounts, and administration.

Tulsa North Facility is located at 7304 East Apache Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Tulsa North facility houses aircraft maintenance and nondestructive testing technology programs, as well as specialty classrooms, training labs, and industry-relevant equipment. Tulsa North has 24 fixed-wing and two rotary aircraft, 21 turbine jet engines, 26 reciprocating aircraft engines, an aviation electronics communication shop, an aviation electronics radar shop, a Boeing 727 and a Boeing 727-100 training cockpit, and nondestructive testing technology such as magnetic particle, liquid dye penetrant, and radiography.

Spartan's Flight Facility is about 20 miles southwest of the Tulsa Main Campus at the Richard L. Jones airport, which is a tower-controlled airport with two runways, crosswind and instrument landing approach capabilities. The Spartan Flight location has a collection of 40+ aircraft, including Cessna 172s, Piper Archers, Piper Seminoles, a Frasca flight simulator, and a full motion Redbird Advance Aviation Training Device.

Eight classrooms are available for ground school instruction, flight dispatch, a book and equipment store, a student resource center (library), financial aid, student records, and career services offices. The facility also houses a LaserGrade testing center, which allows students to computer test for same-day results for their FAA written examinations.

In flight operations, real-time weather information systems are given. All flight training is done one teacher to one pupil.
