The Federal Aviation Administration has accredited Reedley College's Aviation Maintenance Technology program.
Aviation Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) are those who are in charge of ensuring that airplanes operate safely and effectively. Aircraft and aircraft systems are serviced, repaired, overhauled, and tested. All AMTs must be Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) qualified and have the Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) mechanic rating. You can train to become an Aviation Maintenance Technician and obtain your FAA A&P mechanic rating at Reedley College. You are authorized to work on the airframe, which comprises the wings, fuselage, tail assembly, and landing gear, with this rating. You can work on the Powerplant, which includes both piston and turbine engines, as well as the propeller. You can also work on aircraft systems such as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
All airplane mechanics must be certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA needs graduation from an FAA-approved school, such as Reedley College, for an Airframe or Powerplant license.
Reedley College is an FAA-approved institution that has been providing Aviation Maintenance Technician courses for over 50 years. Students can acquire a Certificate or an Associate in Science degree. Our program graduates are prepared to take the FAA examinations required for certification. The nationally mandated oral, practical, and written exams can also be done on-site at Reedley College.
Reedley College can offer the same or better education than a trade or private school at a far lower cost. Our 18-month (four-semester) program costs a fraction of what trade schools often charge, and it includes enrollment fees, a health fee, textbooks, a student body card, and parking fees. The program provides all necessary tools and equipment at no additional expense.
Scholarships, financial help, and Veterans' benefits are also available to qualified students.
The Associate of Science in Flight Science program is designed to offer students with the information, abilities, and flight experience needed to become qualified commercial airplane pilots and flight instructors. Students will complete academic, simulator, and flight courses taught in accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration's criteria. Aeronautical decision making, flying safety, and effective teaching techniques are all emphasized.
The student will obtain the Private Pilot Certificate, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot Certificate, and Flight Instructor Certificate as courses within the degree are satisfactorily completed. Graduates will be qualified to work as commercial airplane pilots and flight instructors in the aviation business.
Reedley College's ground school courses (academic classes) are offered on the Reedley College campus. Fresno Yosemite International Airport, 4955 E. Anderson Road, Suite 117, Fresno, CA 93727, is where the flight lab classes are held.
