You will not only study theory or academics in our Aircraft Maintenance Technology courses and programs, but you will also engage in practical skills-based learning. You will learn skills that will make you a valuable addition to any aircraft maintenance organization as well as provide you with the foundation to transfer to a four-year university's aviation program.
We provide two years of specialized training for students wishing to work as Aircraft Maintenance Technicians in the field of aviation maintenance (AMT). You will be eligible to take the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification examinations if you successfully finish a comprehensive series of courses in Aircraft Powerplant Maintenance Technology and Airframe Maintenance Technology. Courses can also be transferred to four-year universities.
It is not necessary to have a technical background. A genuinely interesting career in the aviation business awaits you if you have a genuine curiosity, strong personal integrity, and discipline! Many people from diverse backgrounds have previously graduated from the program and are reaping the rewards of work in the aviation industry and associated fields.
If you've ever taken a flight, your safety was in the hands of the aviation mechanics and technicians who inspected and repaired the plane. Wings, brakes, landing gear, and electrical systems are all repaired by aircraft mechanics and technicians. They carry out scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national average yearly wage for aviation mechanics and technicians in 2019 was $67,110, with California paying $71,890.
City College of San Francisco is a Federal Aircraft Administration (FAA) licensed aviation maintenance technician school that provides two years of specialized instruction for students interested in working as Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMT). We give out certificates as well as degrees.
