The San Diego Community College District, one of California's 73 community college districts, educates roughly 100,000 students annually through its three credit colleges, San Diego City College, Mesa College, Miramar College, and seven San Diego College of Continuing Education sites.
The colleges provide associate degrees, as well as Continuing Education and career technical certificates, which prepare students for transfer to universities and/or career routes with higher paid jobs. In addition, as part of California's Baccalaureate Pilot Program, Mesa College currently offers a bachelor's degree in Health Information Management.
To guarantee that students have clear pathways to professions and the next stage of their study, the SDCCD maintains active ties with local industry, the community, the military, and educational institutions.
The District and its alumni provide a $5.5 billion annual economic benefit to the region — 98 percent of the District's students stay in the region after finishing their studies. In addition, the District is pleased to serve over 12,000 active-duty military personnel, veterans, and dependents.

The San Diego Community College District's three colleges, San Diego City College, Mesa College, and Miramar College, are accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), a division of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The Commission for Higher Education Accreditation and the United States Department of Education both recognize ACCJC as an institutional accrediting body.
