This 18-month airplane repair curriculum prepares students to take the Federal Aviation Administration's Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certification exam. This certificate entitles the holder to approve aircraft "for return to service" after they have undergone inspection or maintenance. The FAA has authorized this program. Graduates of this curriculum are in high demand not only for aviation employment, but also for careers in other industries that require a high level of mechanical understanding. WSU Tech's aviation maintenance technician program, located at the National Center for Aviation Training, provides a state-of-the-art facility with instructors who have more than 300 years of industry experience working at Cessna, Boeing, Learjet, Beechcraft, Spirit AeroSystems, and other top aerospace companies in Wichita, KS. Wichita, known as the "Air Capital of the World" for decades, is one of five worldwide aviation clusters in the United States, with several options for people looking for aircraft careers after mechanic school.
All AMT program students must acquire tool kits from WSU Tech. This purchase will be made during the program's Airframe 2 and PowerPlant 2 semesters. Outside of WSU Tech, tools may not be purchased.
