Civil engineering, electrical technology, HVAC, and other skilled trades are among the most in-demand jobs in New Hampshire. Professions such as these, as well as automotive, marine, and aviation technology, provide hands-on study and the acquisition of an ever-expanding set of technical skills that prepare students for lucrative careers.
NSUT025K DAY PROGRAM/FAA CERTIFICATION NUMBER
The Associate of Science in Aircraft Technology degree prepares men and women for professions in aviation maintenance. Graduates can work for airlines, fixed-base operators, or aircraft manufacturers.
The FAA has recognized Nashua Community College as a training site. Students who finish this program will be ready to take the FAA's oral, written, and practical examinations for the Airframe and Powerplant Technician License.
The Aviation Technology program focuses heavily on the study of actual aircraft, structures, powerplants, and related systems. The 21-month curriculum, which includes one summer session, covers a wide range of airplane-related topics, including reciprocating engines, turbines, fuel systems, propellers, ignition, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems. A significant amount of reading is required, as is the ability to interpret FAA regulations and manufacturer technical specifications.
In addition to the usual entrance requirements, applicants for Aviation Technology should be aware of the following criteria:
Excellent English reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills are essential.
Physics, electronics, and computer programming are all recommended high school classes.
Upon admission to the program, students will be expected to purchase around $1,300 in tools.
