The skills taught in aviation maintenance include interpreting specifications from service and technical manuals, using testing techniques and equipment, diagnosing issues, and making necessary repairs. The FAA must certify students who complete this curriculum in order for them to work in the aircraft industry.

Students enrolling in the Aviation Maintenance Technology program must get a C or better in each AMT course. Prior to admission to the AMT courses, computer literacy must be proved through a competency exam or by completing a computer literacy course.
