The Aeronautics Maintenance Technology program is designed to prepare students for FAA certification as aircraft Airframe and Powerplant mechanics. This curriculum provides students with knowledge and practical applications in hydraulics, sheet metal, electrical installation and troubleshooting, welding, hand power tool use, engine theory, troubleshooting, and repair.
The Aeronautics Maintenance Department is an approved aviation maintenance technician training facility with Airframe, Powerplant, and combined Airframe and Powerplant ratings that operates under Federal Aviation Administration Air Agency Certificate No. DI9T087R.
It is the only school of its kind in the Pacific Basin.
Placement in ENG 100 * MATH 25 with a "C" or higher OR MATH 103 with a "C" or higher
Preparation is recommended before enrolling in the AERO 130-137 series: ICS 100
* If the MATH program prerequisite is met via Placement Test scores, students must take MATH 103 or an appropriate substitute in order to meet the AS degree requirements.
ITEMIZED ESTIMATE OF EDUCATIONAL COSTS ASSOCIATE IN SCIENCE (AS) CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT (CA)
Tuition is calculated depending on the total number of credits taken.
The total cost of books, tools, and materials for the full curriculum is around $2,500.
Students who successfully complete the AERO program will be able to:
Pass the FAA knowledge, oral, practical, and written exams in General, Airframe, and Powerplant areas with flying colors.
Obtain general mechanic, airframe, and powerplant certificates from the FAA.
Inspect, maintain, service, and repair aircraft electrical, engine (piston and turbine), airframe structure, flight control, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, navigation, and instrument systems, and other aircraft components as required by Federal Aviation Regulation Part 147.
Identify, install, inspect, build, and repair sheet metal and synthetic material structures on airplanes.
To protect the safety of the flying public, maintain and repair any part in any aircraft system of any rotorcraft, light aircraft, air carrier aircraft, glider, or balloon within the regulatory limitations prescribed by FAA certification, without error.
Display appropriate behavior that reflects excellent work habits and ethics in order to meet program criteria and gain confidence in order to prepare for job.
