The Aviation Systems Technology Program will teach you the knowledge and abilities needed to obtain an aviation mechanic's certificate with airframe and/or powerplant ratings. The Federal Aircraft Administration (FAA) has approved the program under 14 CFR Part 147, which supervises aviation maintenance schools. This is a program with a limited number of participants.
GTCC Aviation has ties with organizations on a local, regional, and national scale that are always looking for Aircraft Maintenance Technicians. During and after the program, you can apply for open internships and apprenticeships, as well as full-time or part-time employment.
According to a recent market research conducted by Boeing, aircraft technician demand in the United States will continue to rise over the next 15-20 years due to increased aircraft deliveries, market segment growth, and the retirement of an aging workforce.
You must complete the GTCC general enrolling process. During the advising process, you will be able to express your interest to study within this program. Your advisor will assist you in registering for the precise courses you require. If you have been accepted and have submitted your high school or college transcripts, you will need to meet entry level prerequisites (DRE098, MAT10-50) if they are not already covered by your credentials.
Local employers include HAECO, Honda Jet, Signature Technicair, Textron Cessna, Piedmont Aviation, GE Engines, Dynamic Air, Genesis Aviation, VF Corporation, and LabTech. Regional and national chances are available with all major airlines and the military. GTCC has a connection with Delta Airlines to give further training and job chances with them as well as their contracted regional carriers.
Search Indeed.com or JSFirm for local and regional employment for "Aviation Maintenance" in Greensboro, Winston Salem, and around North Carolina. (Include hyperlinks in the answer to the question on the webpage.)
Duke Energy, Railroads, and other technical businesses also employ and seek our graduates because they possess the abilities that they require in a wide range of subject matter areas.
If you want to work in aviation and provide flight operational assistance, the Aviation Management degree is for you. Working in a corporate flight department, managing a flying school, or working in flight support operations at an airline or in the aircraft maintenance or manufacturing industry are all possibilities. This degree does not involve flight training and is designed to provide you with a basic understanding of flight concepts and terminology related to meteorology, aircraft systems, airline operations, and flight safety measures.
If you currently have a degree in another profession but want to learn more about aviation and flight operations, you can pursue one or both of the certificate programs. Option A includes management fundamentals, aircraft systems, and fundamental flight operations. Option B focuses on aviation operations management, flight safety principles, characteristics of the air transportation business, supply chain management, and aircraft constructions.
You can apply for the Aviation Management or Career Pilot programs if you have a high school diploma or are enrolled in the Career and College Promise program. If you are a current high school student who is interested in learning more about the Career and College Promise program, please contact Linda Whitlow at lswhitlow@gtcc.edu. In order to enrol for program courses, you must meet reading and math placement requirements. To begin courses in the AER programs, you must pass DRE 098 in reading and at least DMA 050 in math. You must test out of DMA 080 in order to complete the math requirements for the Career Pilot and Aviation Management degrees. It is not necessary to have prior flight training to begin the degree or certificate programs.
This is determined by where you choose to receive your flight training and the type of aircraft you fly. The cost of flight training is calculated by the hour. The majority of training planes cost between $120-$170 per hour. On top of that, you may be flying with a flight instructor, who typically charges between $30 and $50 per hour. The cost of flight training to earn your commercial certificate will typically be around $40,000. The costs of flight training are in addition to the tuition and fees levied by the college for degree classes. Tuition and books for the associate's degree at GTCC will cost between $7,500 and $8,000.
This is your entry point into a mentally engaging career field where you will frequently be called upon to install, examine, test, adjust, or repair all manner of Aviation Electronics. You'll learn how to utilize basic test and repair tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and soldering irons. You will also get plenty of practice with contemporary Flight Line Test Equipment like the IFR 4000 (Communication Systems Test Set), IFR 6000 (Navigation Systems Test Set), and a variety of ADTS (Air Data Test Set) Systems. You will have a greater understanding of electronics and their function in today's aviation sector after completing this program. You will also have learnt and polished your troubleshooting skills, allowing you to comprehend and analyze complicated avionics systems aboard the aircraft.
We have students working in MRO, FBOs, OEM support shops, and local industrial sectors. Graduates have also been hired by non-aviation oriented production support organizations that require the same electrical and troubleshooting expertise as the aviation market.
To mention a few, we have great partnerships with Honda Aircraft, Textron Aviation, Signature Techniair, HAECO MRO, and Piedmont Aviation. We do not, however, have any direct placement agreements with any of these companies at this moment. We do, however, obtain their approval for our program in order to verify that our graduates meet the current industry standards for entry-level employment.
