This is a highly technical, multidisciplinary program that teaches students not just how planes work, but also how to troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain them.
Everything from the fundamentals of math and physics to more aviation-specific topics like corrosion control, aircraft hardware, and flying surfaces, as well as FAA laws and regulations, are covered in these units. To prepare our students for a future in aviation, we combine classroom theory with plenty of hands-on practical experience.
Students repair and reassemble piston and turbine engines, learn about hand tools and how to use them properly, weld, and even fly a plane on the ground.
College credits are offered in Airframe & Powerplant (A&P). Students earning an Airframe & Powerplant License (A&P) may receive up to 67 college credits from aviation-related universities. SkillsUSA, the National Technical Honor Society Credits from high school are available, including: 3 Elective Credits in Year 1 Year 2: 1 credit of electives, 1.0 credit of science, and 1.0 credit of math

At Burlington Technical Center, Jason teaches Aviation and Aerospace Technology. He graduated from the State University of New York at Alfred with a Bachelor of Science in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology. Jason is a certified FAA airframe and powerplant mechanic.
He spent over five years teaching in the BTC Aviation post-secondary program before moving to the high school in 2017.
Jason has a long history of working on mechanical and electrical systems, which began on the family farm and continued during his high school years when he enrolled in an electrical trades course at a local training center. He worked with IBM for over 10 years after college, debugging automation systems used in the production of microelectronics, before returning to school for aviation. Before going into school, Jason worked as an A&P on airplanes for numerous years. His enthusiasm for all things mechanical, electrical, and aviation-related motivates his students to work harder.
