What exactly is an Aircraft Technician program?
For students pursuing a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant license, the curriculum provides regular college courses. The FAA-accredited Aircraft Program is San Antonio's only provider of tailored instruction for the aerospace sector.
Students who become Airframe Mechanics specialize in all phases of airframe building and maintenance, obtaining in-depth instruction and preparedness to work in the manufacturing and repair of all aircraft—from small, fabric-covered planes to jumbo jets. Students learn about all aspects of aircraft maintenance and repair, such as fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic environmental control, electrical, and flight control systems.
Students in Powerplant Mechanics concentrate in aviation internal combustion engines, turbojet, turboshaft, and turboprop engines. Students receive a thorough understanding of the operation, maintenance, and repair of reciprocating and turbine aircraft engines, as well as the systems that support them. Lubrication, carburetion, ignition, electrical, supercharging, induction, exhaust, and propeller training are all part of system training.
What will I be able to do with this course of study?
